Djibril Cisse, was born 12 August 1981 in Arles, France. He plays as a striker for both the French national football team and Panathinaikos. He is noted particularly for his speed and acceleration, as well as his often eye-catching hairstyles.

Djibril signed for the French club AJ Auxerre at the age of 15, and made his international debut, against Belgium in May 2002. He won the French Cup with Auxerre in May 2003, and the Confederations Cup with France a month later.

Djibril was also the top scorer in the French Ligue 1 in the 2001-02 and 2003-04 seasons. He scored 70 goals in 128 league games for Auxerre before signing for Liverpool in a deal worth over £14 million. Liverpool had pursued Cisse for a long time, and it was an open secret that the then Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier admired Cisse's qualities.

Djibril had only played 19 games for Liverpool when he broke his left leg playing against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on October 30, 2004. It was a horrific injury, and only for the swift response of the Liverpool physio, Cisse could have lost his leg.

Making his come back in April 2005 ahead of schedule, Djibril came on as a substitute in the 75th minute of the second leg of Liverpool's Champions League quarter-final tie with Juventus. He went on to play in Liverpool’s Champions League final against AC Milan, scoring one of the decisive penalties.

In early June 2006, Djibril broke his leg in France’s final warm up match against China ahead of the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Devastated at missing the World Cup, and facing another fight back from injury, Djibril was told the club he loved Liverpool, had decided to put him out on loan. Liverpool agreed a deal with Olympique de Marseille in August 2006. Again, making a very early recovery from his injury, Djibril made his debut for Olympique Marseille, on 6th December 2006 scoring in a friendly match against Martigues. On 7 July 2007, Liverpool and Marseille announced that they had struck a deal to sign Djibril permanently to Marseille.

In the 2007/8 season , Djibril scored eight goals in the month of January alone, winning him "player of the month", and his goal against Nice on 10th February took his record to 100 goals in 220 league games.

In August 2008, Djibril signed a season long loan deal with Sunderland and his first game against Tottenham saw him scoring the winning goal giving Sunderland a 2-1 win. Despite being the top scorer at the club during the 2008/9 season, Sunderland decided not to pick up the option, so Djibril signed a 4 year deal in June 09 to join Greek team Panathinaikos.

Djibril was made team captain and became the Superleague topscorer for the 2009–10 season. Panathinaikos won the 8th double crown in the club's history by winning both the Superleague and the Football Federation Cup. Also in the 2010-11 season, Djibril was the top goalscorer in the Superleague with 24 goals.

In July 2011, Djibril Cisse signed a 4 year contract with Lazio. He made his debut in a UEFA Europa League match against FK Rabotnički on 18 August, scoring two goals in a 6-0 win. He also scored on his league debut in a 2-2 draw with Milan at the San Siro one month later.

Djibril signed for Queens Park Rangers on a two and a half year deal on 31 January 2012. He scored his first goal on the debut against Aston Villa on 1 February 2012 in a 2-2 draw.
