  • Place of birth
    Milton Keynes, England
  • Nationality
    English

Samuel Oram-Jones was born in Milton Keynes, England on 2 November 1997. He first stepped into a kart at the age of nine at Daytonas Karting Track in Milton Keynes. Showing a natural talent early on, he joined KR-Sport, one of the leading TKM and Rotax Class karting teams in the UK, in 2006. In his first six races Samuel won four trophies as a novice.

Always racing against drivers much older than himself, he achieved results far beyond his age. In 2009 he became the youngest driver ever to race in Europe's top level Rotax class, MiniMax. As a rookie in his first year Sammy finished 3rd in the Winter Cup at Kimbleton and in the Brazil Cup at Whilton Mill.

Given his performances, KR-Sport moved him up a class in order for him develop his driving skills at a more advanced level and he was granted a special license to race in this category of the Super One Championship.

Sammy was awarded a sports scholarship to Berry Lawn School, the first of its kind to be awarded by the school. He was further recognised for his achievements when he was presented with a Gold Blue Peter badge, of which only 17 have ever been awarded.

2010 will see Sammy compete once again in MiniMax with KR-Sport and will be racing in Europe at the highest level.

In August 2011, Sammy won the Formula Kart Stars Championship in Genk, Belgium. On the final straight he came from behind and claimed the win on the line in 0.02 seconds. The victory led to Sammy being awarded Lewis Hamilton’s True Grit Award for the 2nd consecutive year by the Series organisers.
